Kathryn Mayorga, who is accusing Cristiano Ronaldo of rape, is demanding $78 million in damages from the renowned soccer star. According to a series of new documents filed, the ex-model insists the alleged incident that happened 12 years ago at the Palms Casino Resort has left her scared.

In 2018, Mayorga sued Ronaldo claiming abuse, coercion, fraud, emotional distress, and exploitation. In the original documents submitted to court in 2018, the former model claimed the Ronaldo raped her July 12, 2009 at the Palms Casino penthouse, after meeting at a nightclub earlier.

According to the initial lawsuit, she was coerced into signing a non-disclosure agreement in 2010 to drop the case. She claims she was under duress when she signed the document to a settlement of $375,000.

Ronaldo issued a statement denying the accusation. In the released statement he said ” rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in.”

Payment For Damages

According to recent documents, Mayorga is seeking $25 million in punitive damages, $25 million for future pain and suffering, and $25 million for past pain and suffering. In addition, she also seeks $3 million to cover expenses and legal costs.

According to her, she has suffered from depression and PTSD since the alleged incident in 2009.

The new documents filed in court enlist close to 70 witnesses, including prominent names like Jorge Mendes his agent, and Andrea Agnelli, the current chairman of Ronaldo’s current team, Juventus.

$78 million is equivalent to two years of Ronaldo’s salary. But further analysis shows that Ronaldo earns more than that if you take into consideration his endorsement deals with companies like Tag Heuer, Armani, Nike, and PokerStars.

The Clark County District Attorney’s Office announced that Ronaldo with not be prosecuted in a criminal court citing the allegations “cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The day after the alleged incident, Mayorga reported an assault to Las Vegas Metro Police, however she didn’t name the accused neither did she mention where the incident took place. She recently said it was because she didn’t want the negative publicity that would come with such news.

In 2018, German news magazine Der Spiegel obtained a recorded conversation between Ronaldo and his legal team. From the audio file, the person alleged to be Ronaldo admits having non-consensual sex with Mayorga.

Ronaldo’s lawyer have since denied the files, stating they“stolen by hackers and falsified.”
